Skin Care Review: Dr. Hauschka

Dr. Hauschka Skin Care Review       You may not have noticed the Dr. Hauschka products being used in the hit movie Zoolander - but we did. Dr. Hauschka has become a favorite of the stars with celebs like Kate Blanchette, Mira Sorvino and Cher using their products.

The Dr. Hauschka Skin Care line was introduced in 1967. The concept was, and continues to be simple: infuse nature's healing qualities in each preparation in order to stimulate the skin's ability to find its way back to balanced health. In short, they address skin care problems rather than dealing with symptoms. The holistic products encourage the skin to achieve balance and harmony by stimulating the skin's ability to take care of itself and overcome its weaknesses.

Dr. Hauschka sent us a big box of their products to try. Here are a few reviews to give you an idea of their products:

Cleansing Milk - We became addicted to this gentle cleansing milk. It's non-foaming and so thin that after you apply the milk it pretty much disappears on your skin until you rinse it off. Good for normal skin or sensitive skin as it has no scent and is very gentle.

Quincy Body Moisture - This opaque moisturizer is so thin that it's almost watery and yet it did a great job at making my dry skin soft. In short, the job and without being a heavy cream. It absorbed quickly and left absolutely no greasy after-feeling or overpowering scent. I would recommend this to anyone.

Lavender Bath - To start, I usually have baths about once a month. After I tried this relaxing bath oil I had baths a number of days in a row. The scent is noticeable and relaxing but not overpowering. Great after a stressful day at work.

Firming Mask - The instructions say to leave it on for 20 minutes so I drew a bath, poured in some lavender bath oil, and slathered the thick cream. As I read my book and relaxed in the bath I noticed that the cream was slowly being absorbed into my skin. After the required 20 minutes there wasn't much left to wash off but I rinsed my face with warm water anyway. This treatment really made my dry skin feel soft. I would recommend it for dry and mature skin but definitely not oily skin as the many oils in the mask may cause breakouts.

Eye Contour Day Cream - As far as I could tell, this pumpkin colored gel-inspired cream does not absorb into the skin at all. It is not greasy but does keep a very shiny wet film on the skin. It is make of great natural ingredients and has absolutely no scent, which is great for an eye cream. In short, it works great as a night-time eye cream (or, as we found, as an amazing lip gloss) but there's no way you could wear it during the day without people thinking you've been crying.

Moisturizing Day Cream - Personally, I wasn't fond of the scent and it would have been a lot better with an SPF built-in. That said, it is a light moisture cream that absorbs completely after a few minutes. I love the dispenser because it feels great (smooth) and it is very easy to control how much comes out of the bottle into your hand. And it's natural, so that makes it okay in my books!
